Saša Avramović is a film fanatic, with a special emphasis on the horror genre. It all began at the age of eight, when he saw A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, directed by Renny Harlin, and from that moment he became a big fan of horror films and was immediately hooked on the surreal images created by the good folks at New Line Cinema.
At the age of nine, he discovered the films of Stanley Kubrick, starting with 2001: A Space Odyssey, and this hypnotic experience further convinced him of the power of cinema. He’s obsessed with the A Nightmare on Elm Street series to the point of absurdity and he lost track long time ago of how many times he rewatched it. His cinematic upbringing was also shaped by films like Stand By Me, David Cronenberg’s remake of The Fly, The Sixth Sense, Halloween, Cat People (the remake), and later by The Last Temptation of Christ, Sunset Boulevard, Natural Born Killers, and many others.
He works as a translator and content writer for websites (mostly unrelated to film), and in his free time, he writes about films, though not as often as he’d like to. His attempts at writing about film and literature date back to when he was fifteen, though none of those early efforts (luckily!) saw the light of day. About twelve or thirteen years ago, he began writing about films for websites like Taste of Cinema and Bloody Flicks, as well as for the now-defunct blogs Cinematic Nightmares and The Gold Room.
This website is his attempt to gather all of his scattered film writings from various websites and social media, while also offering new reviews, interviews with relevant figures from the world of film and literature, film and literature news, and other similar content.
Also, this website exist in its Serbian and English version (translated by the author, not with automatic Google or similar translation) so language enthusiasts, feel free to check out my Serbian version of the website at www.cinematicnightmares.com.
